13. Homework exercise - Lock down…

Create a presentation / display, this must consist of the following elements:

A final display/set up inspired by the experiments you’ve done in lesson 7. Try to come to the essence of what you want to express within your theme. Try to visualize this theme choosing the best objects, images and composition to communicate your vision.
Make a counterpart of this display/set up. Keeping in mind the first theme, react to this in a new set up to create an exciting counterpart. Think about what you want to express by this duo presentation. Are they opposites, mirrored compositions, a continuation, a transformation, a reduction?
Search the website of the MoMA, New York for a third artist, exhibition or artwork that you can relate to your own presentation. On their website (https://www.moma.org) you can browse their archive; by entering keywords you can find lots of information on artists, exhibitions and specific art works in all kinds of media. Write a text (350-400 words) in which you explain why you have chosen this artist/exhibition/art work, and how it relates to your presentation. Study the content, attitude/way of working, and background of the artist/art work thoroughly. Upload the text, together with a relevant image, on Moodle and bring a printed version to class.

In general: whilst working on your set ups keep in mind the visual quality of how you put things together, and try to think 3 dimensional like adding ‘walls’ or ‘corners’ to create a sense of an exhibition space. Document your process: notes, sketches, photos… and make a series of photographs of your final display.
